Bryn Mawr College Swim Team Hosts 5th Annual Community Relay Challenge
The 5th annual Bryn Mawr College Community Relay Challenge, hosted last
month by the swim team, raised more than $600 for the "Owls Fight for a
Cure" initiative with all proceeds benefiting Bryn Mawr Hospital’s
Barbara Brodksy Comprehensive Breast Center.
"Every year, I panic about participation and every year, the event
grows bigger and bigger!," stated head coach Nikki Whitlock."Our varsity swimmers really make an effort to find new staff,
faculty and students to participate in the relays! The community
spirit is what makes this event such a success!"
Each swim team member was responsible for fielding a four-person relay
team comprised of themselves with at least one faculty, one community
member and one student. This year, 68 swimmers in 17 relays – the
largest field ever - took to the pool.
The winning relay was anchored by Interim President Kim Cassidy,
assistant swim coach Marci Wixted and seniors Judy Yeung and Su Oner.
Cassidy has been a member of five winning relays over the years.
Because of her excellent track record, President Cassidy is one
the most sought after team members each year.
