On December 6, volunteers from the 2013 Devon Horse Show and Country
Fair presented a check to Bryn Mawr Hospital for $402,500, one of the
group’s largest donations to date. Devon’s gift will be used to
purchase 7 state-of-the-art beds for the Neuro-Cardiac Intensive Care
Unit ($241,500); 2 Zoll biphasic defibrillators ($27,000); and a
mammography workstation monitor for the Barbara Brodsky Comprehensive
Breast Center ($81,000). The balance of Devon’s gift ($53,000)
will be used to refurbish the Labor & Deliver waiting area and
Andi Gilbert, BMH President; Thomas Frazier, MD, Medical Director of the
Barbara Brodsky Comprehensive Breast Center; Linda Burak, Patient Care
Manager of Labor & Deliver; Arie Hallowell, RN, Patient Care
Manager, and Jane Cummings RN, both from the Neuro-Cardiac Intensive
Care Unit (NC-ICU), all spoke at the reception. Each extolled
Devon’s generosity and explained how this year’s gift will benefit
patients. Following remarks, guests were invited to examine a Zoll
defibrillator and one of the new NC-ICU beds on display during the
The Devon Horse Show and Country Fair has contributed $14.3 million to
Bryn Mawr Hospital since 1919. That represents over $45 million in
