Bryn Mawr Hospital pediatric nurses continued their tradition of hosting
the Halloween Diabetic Candy Exchange for children with Juvenile
Diabetes and their families on November 1. Funded by a grant from the
Hospital’s Women’s Board, this year’s event featured the Berenstain
Bears, pumpkin painting, face painting, photo booth and craft table.
This popular event gives children and adolescents with diabetes, ages
one through 18, the opportunity to enjoy trick or treating with their
friends, then, instead of discarding candy, exchange it for a gift bag.
According to Kelly Ann Zazyczny, RN, Nurse Manager of the Pediatric
Inpatient Unit, “Our annual Diabetic Candy Exchange would not be
possible without the community sponsors who generously donate time,
goods and services. I would also like to recognize and thank all the
volunteers, especially our student volunteers, as well as Fernando
Figueroa and his team on the cafeteria staff for their amazing support.
We couldn’t do it without them!”
Bryn Mawr Hospital is grateful to the following businesses, artists, and
organizations for their support of the 2013 Halloween Candy Exchange.
