Horse Show and Country Fair.
Bryn Mawr Hospital staff and volunteers from the Devon Horse Show and
Country Fair celebrated an annual rite of spring on Wednesday, April
24th in the hospital cafeteria - Devon Derby Day!
Festive blue and white table covers, balloons, popcorn, Devon fudge and
lemon sticks – traditional favorites – generated lots of excitement for
lunchtime staff and visitors. Devon Derby volunteers did a brisk
business selling chances on a 2013 Acura and other fabulous prizes.
Winners will be drawn at the Horse Show on Saturday night, June 1.
There was no shortage of takers for a special Phillies raffle. The lucky
winner of the 2 PM drawing was hospital Chaplain, Margy Friel. Margy and
3 guests will have field box seats to watch the Phillies face the
Washington Nationals on June 17.
Devon Day is a key opportunity for hospital employees to sign up to
volunteer at the Horse Show, which runs from Thursday, May 23 through
Saturday, June 2. Those who missed Devon Day but would like to join Team
BMH can volunteer
The Devon Horse Show and Country Fair is the single largest contributor
to Bryn Mawr Hospital. Since 1919, Devon has generated close to $15
million ($50 million in today’s dollars). Last year’s donation of
$403,000, the largest ever, was earmarked for the Comprehensive Breast
Center (HOLOGIC stereotactic breast biopsy unit) and the NICU (8 new
cardio respiratory monitors and upgrades for 6 existing monitors).
