A Dedicated Pediatric Emergency Program

Bryn Mawr Hospital is one of only a few community hospitals with a dedicated pediatric emergency department. At Bryn Mawr Hospital, our pediatric Emergency Department (ED) team has advanced training and certification in caring for sick or injured children.

• Nemours pediatric emergency physicians and hospitalists team up with Bryn Mawr Hospital nurses certified in pediatric advanced life support in a specially designated treatment area.

• Our separate children’s waiting room offers a place for children and parents to feel comfortable.

• Children coming to the Bryn Mawr Hospital ED have access to pediatric surgeons 24/7, and other Nemours specialists are available for consultation.

• Children may be treated in the ED and sent home, referred to Nemours or Bryn Mawr Hospital physicians for follow-up or admitted to Bryn Mawr Hospital, where they will be cared for by a dedicated team of in-house pediatricians, called hospitalists, from the duPont Hospital for Children. Hospitalists are board-certified pediatricians who are experts in treating hospitalized infants, children and teens.

• For children who need advanced specialty care at the duPont Hospital for Children, the Nemours transport team can take them there safely.
