Designed with comfort in mind for new mothers, Paoli Hospital’s newly
renovated Maternity Unit and Nursery will meet the needs of the future
of our community and will provide the latest concepts in family,
patient-centered care.

Each of the existing 26 private patient rooms
in the Maternity Unit will be completely
renovated.

11 new private postpartum rooms will be
built, featuring private showers and comfortable
furnishings.

Each labor/delivery/recovery room will
contain a special bed with the very latest
amenities, allowing mothers to adopt
any position, making the birthing process more natural.

The NICU will provide space for more
bassinets and areas for privacy for
breastfeeding, medical consultation
and patient education.

A larger Well-Baby Nursery will be
available for newborns while new moms rest staffed
by nurses trained in newborn care, with the
capability of recognizing the very subtle signs that may
indicate a newborn needs special assistance.

Two new Operating Rooms (ORs) – with
additional space will be built for a third adjacent to
the Maternity Unit for patients requiring
Cesarean sections. Each OR will contain the very
latest surgical equipment.

Hugs® Infant Protection System will be
reconfigured to ensure maximum safety of infants.
The reconfiguration will allow our expanded NICU to have
a separate monitored workstation. The Hugs system
automatically sets off an alarm, activating magnetic
door locks and holding selected elevators, integrating
with the Hospital’s security and control systems.

Wireless Internet access will be
available in patient rooms.
These state-of-the-art facilities, combining the highest
quality clinical care, a home-like environment, and exceptional
medical and nursing care, will maintain Paoli’s position as the
