How are telephone calls to the office handled?
We welcome your phone calls and encourage you to call our
office with any questions or concerns. Our phone is always
answered by an experienced receptionist or nurse. Calls concerning
prescriptions, referrals, and test results should be placed during
regular hours. If you need to schedule a routine visit, or if
your child has been sick during the night, please call 484.572.0513
beginning at 8:30am Monday morning through
Friday. Please help us by giving all necessary information so
we can expedite the care of your child. Calls after regular hours
should be urgent in nature and will be answered immediately by our
answering service.
How do I make an appointment?
Office visits are by appointment only. Please be specific
about the reason for your visit so that the appropriate time can be
allotted, and be sure to specify also if your child has any special
health problems. Understand we can only see the patient who
has been scheduled. If you are unable to keep your appointment or
are running late, kindly let us know. If you must cancel an
appointment, please give us 24 hours notice.
What do I do in the case of an emergency?
In the case of a life-threatening emergency, please dial 911
immediately. In the case of an urgent situation, if possible,
take your child to the Bryn Mawr Hospital Emergency Department and ask
for the pediatric emergency physicians or hospitalist on call.
Bryn Mawr Hospital has pediatric emergency department physicians and
pediatric hospitalists available 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week. If your child has a serious medical problem, please
call the office at 484.572.0513 for asssistance.
How do I get a specialist care referral?
Referral forms are required by some insurance companies to see a
specialist or for medical tests. To properly complete referral
forms, we require the specialist's full name, exact procedure(s) and/or
test(s) to be performed and number of visits. Your specialist will
be asked to provide written instructions regarding return visits.
All referrals must be approved by your primary care physician before
services are rendered. Referrals cannot be back dated and we
require 48 hours notice. Emergency referrals are handled on
an individual basis.
How are prescription refills handled?
It is best to request prescription refills during your office
visit. If you need a prescription renewal prior to your next
visit, please call our office at least 48 hours in advance of your
need. Be prepared to give your name, the patient's name, date of
birth, the pharmacy telephone number and medication name and
dosage. It is difficult to renew prescriptions on nights and
weekends without a medical record, so please plan in advance.
Renewals for any narcotics or pain medications are filled during regular
office hours only, and will not be called into the pharmacy.
Do you complete school, camp, and sports forms?
We are happy to complete forms from schools, camps, daycare centers, and
others. These forms require physician signatures and lead time for
processing. A minimum of 48 hours is needed to process each
form. A small processing fee is charged. Insurance
companies do not cover this fee, and payment is expected prior to the
completed form being returned to you.
How are tests and results handled?
Tests are tools helpful in evaluating the health status of an
individual. Some managed care plans require you go to a specific
facility for tests or x-rays. Please talk to us before you
schedule any procedure or check your insurance handbook for the
requirements outlined by your insurance company. All test results
are reviewed by our physician and patients are notified of their test
results in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
What insurance do you accept and how is billing handled?
We ask that you pay for your visit at the time of service,
including co-payments. We participate in most insurance plans,
including HMOs and PPOs. However, if you are a new patient to our
practice or have recently changed insurance carriers, please check with
our office when you call to schedule the appointment. If we
do not participate with your plan, check with your insurance carrier to
understand your financial responsibility. Please update us with
any changes in your address or telephone number.
