The Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiac Surgery at Lankenau
Medical Center is seeking to recruit two highly motivated critical care
providers, to serve our high volume cardiac surgery program. We are
looking for qualified physicians to join our service to perform 100
percent critical care duties on pre- and post-operative care of cardiac
surgical patients in our 14 bed CT ICU and 20 bed post-operative cardiac
surgical telemetry floor. Our cardiac surgical volume has experienced
significant growth in the past two years and additional expansion is
expected. The ideal candidates will work in collaboration with an
in-house team of acute care mid-level providers assuring round-the-clock
patient care coverage.
Qualifications: Experienced and new fellowship
Preferred: Candidates trained in Anesthesiology, Cardiac Surgery
and have completed advanced training in fields relevant to
Critical Care Medicine.
Candidates with experience in the CTICU will also be considered.
Must be board-certified/board-eligible in their primary field.
Be eligible for a Full Medical Licensure in the State of
Pennsylvania prior to appointment.
Cardiac surgery critical care service is responsible to provide 7:00
am–11:00 pm, supported with a team of in-house acute care mid-level
providers. Equal, shared coverage between physicians fielding acute care
calls from physician extenders. NO in-house NIGHTS.
Job details: Lead daily multidisciplinary rounds on all
patients admitted to the ICU. The intensivists are expected to provide
critical care and build strong collaborative team relationship with
cardiac surgeons, referring cardiologists and consulting physicians, as
well as actively participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
Intensivists with strong clinical focus play an important role in
teaching as well as clinical research. Protocols have resulted in
documented improved patient outcomes while providing superior patient
Critical care services are primarily in the CT ICU, and postoperative
cardiac surgical telemetry floor, or in response to “Rapid Response
Team” alerts or in the ED for patients on cardiac surgery service.
