Overview
Cardiac rehabilitation helps patients recover more effectively from
angina, heart attack, heart surgery or angioplasty. Cardiac rehab also
helps with secondary prevention –that is, helping patients maintain or
improve their heart health through education and support. The ultimate
goal: empowering patients to make lifestyle changes that may help reduce
the severity of further heart problems or prevent them altogether.
The Main Line Health Heart Center has designed a cardiac rehab program
to help you become independent, self-assured, symptom-free and able to
work again or resume a normal activity level. This stage of care – which
is absolutely essential to your full recovery and continued health – may
include:
-
An individualized plan for low-intensity aerobic exercise
-
Monitoring of blood pressure and heart rhythm while you exercise
-
Workshops on such topics as nutrition, stress management,
hypertension, diabetes and exercise
The Main Line Team
The Main Line Health Heart Center team includes certified staff who
excel at developing a program tailored to each patient’s needs. A single
nurse acts as your case manager – following you from your initial
interview and risk assessment through the entire rehab process.
Your nurse, physician, exercise physiologists and other specialists will
work closely with you to develop an individualized rehab program that
best meets your requirements. Main Line Health’s Bryn Mawr, Lankenau and
Paoli Hospitals have been recognized with Magnet® designation by the
American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). This designation places
Main Line Health in the top 3 percent of hospitals nationwide for
nursing excellence.
