Q: I want to hand in my form but I can’t find your office! Where
is the Development office?
A: We are in the East Medical Office Building on the ground floor in Suite 564.
Q: I signed up for payroll deduction a few weeks ago…but nothing
has come out of my paycheck yet! Why?
A: If you sign up for payroll deduction, your contributions will start coming out of your paycheck in July and will continue for 1 year until your whole pledge is fulfilled. (That means if you signed up for payroll deduction for last year’s 2012 Employee Giving Campaign, you probably still have deductions from last year coming out of your paycheck. These will stop in June of this year. If you re-sign up for the 2013 campaign, your deductions will be spread out from July 2013 – June 2014).
Q: What are some of the projects at Lankenau that need my help?

Q: Is there an Employee Giving giveaway this year?
A: This year, donors of $50 or more will automatically receive our Lankenau Medical Center insulated tote bag - perfect for summer beach trips, barbecues and grocery shopping!
Q: Why is it such a big deal that employees want to give back to
A: Our wildly successful Employee Giving Campaign sends a powerful message to the people in our community that those who are closest to our institution, and know it best, realize that Lankenau's mission is something worthy of support. If our own employees choose to support Lankenau with their own charitable gifts, there is perhaps no greater case for support from the patients, families and community members who use Lankenau's services.
Q: If I signed up for payroll deduction last year, will it
rollover and continue this year?
A: NO! You must re-sign up in order to contribute to the 2013 Employee Giving Campaign.
Q: Is this the same as the United Way Campaign?
A: No, they are separate. The United Way raises money for thousands of non-profit organizations worldwide, whereas the Employee Giving Campaign specifically helps fund the programs and services Main Line Health provides to the people in our hospital communities. In other words "our gifts live here!"
Q: How does the "refer a friend" program work?
A: New for 2013! This year, Lankenau wants to break the record it set last year - but we can only do that by increasing participation in the Employee Giving Campaign in a big way. Do you have a friend or colleague who has never participated or perhaps used to contribute, but not anymore? Why don't you refer them to sign up for the Campaign! When a new or lapsed donor contributes, they have the option to give credit to the individual who "referred" them to participate in the Campaign. Anyone who has referred new donors will receive special recognition and be entered to win a special raffle prize! If you are a new or lapsed donor, be sure to either write the name of the person who referred you on your form, or in the comments box when you sign up online.
Q: I forgot to write the name of my coworker who referred me to the
Employee Giving Campaign. What now?
A: No problem! Send a quick email to Brittany Thompson with the name.
Q: Why am I still having money taken out of my paycheck for
Employee Giving? - I haven't signed up yet this year!
A: When you sign up for payroll deduction, contributions start coming out of your paycheck on July 1 of that year and continue for an entire year until the pledge is fulfilled. Technically this means that if you signed up for $1 to come out of each paycheck for the 2012 Employee Giving Campaign, those $1 deductions will continue until your last paycheck before June 30, 2013. On July 1, of this year, the new 2013 Employee Giving Campaign deductions will begin.
Q: How much of my dollar actually goes to support the program or
service I selected?
A: When you select a specific fund to support, your gifts are what we call restricted - where you, the donor, have specified your desired use for your contributions. We have an obligation to use all of your funds for their intended purpose, or return them to you if we are not able to fulfill your wishes.
Q: How can I become more involved in Employee Giving?
A: We have an Employee Giving Committee that is made up of employees just like you! If you would like to become more involved in the planning and execution of the Campaign, please email Brittany Thompson.
Q: How can I specify what purpose my contribution goes towards?
A: We want to make sure your gift supports a fund that you care about. Both the paper form and payroll election online give you the option to pick what designation you would like your gift to go towards or to specify "other" funds in the space provided. Visit our Gift Designations website for more information on the services you can support at Lankenau.
Q: If I contribute, will my name appear on a list of donors?
A : Each year, the Lankenau Medical Center Foundation releases an annual report of donors, including a list of the employees who gave during the Employee Giving Campaign. Your name will appear on this list unless you specify that you would like to remain anonymous. For a list of donors to the 2012 Employee Giving Campaign, click here. In 2012 we recognized the employees who contributed to the campaign by dedicating the elevators in the new Employee Garage in their names. Sign up for the 2013 Campaign and get your name on this year's plaque!
Q: If I donate $50 will I receive my free beverage weeks again
A: Yes! We are once again glad to offer employees who give $50 or more, to Employee Giving, 4 free weeks of coffee, tea, and fountain beverages courtesy of Aramark. We encourage employees to Go Green and use their own mug during Beverage Week.
Q: I gave more than $50 through peoplesoft - how do I collect my
giveaway bag and free beverages?
A: You can stop by the Development Office to pick up your Employee Giving insulated tote bag - this year's giveaway. Free beverage coupons will be mailed to you in advance of each of the free beverage weeks throughout the next year.
Q: Can I give to the Employee Giving Campaign if I work for
Aramark or a non-MLH doctor's office?
A: Yes! Although Aramark and non MLH employees cannot sign up for payroll deduction, you are more than welcome to contribute with credit card or check using a paper form. Thank you!
Q: Why do you ask for my Social Security number on the
A: Payroll requires us to collect your social security number in order to process payroll deduction elections. You can choose to give to Employee Giving through Peoplesoft online if this makes you feel more comfortable. Click here to sign up online. If you gave to Employee Giving through automatic payroll deduction last year, we will not require your social security number this year.
Q: Am I eligible to win any raffle prizes?
A: We have many raffle prizes available to employees who give to a Lankenau fund. Once you hand in your paperwork or sign up online for Employee Giving, you will automatically be entered in each of the subsequent raffles. That means the sooner you get your gift in, the more prizes you are eligible to win! One raffle - the chance to win a premium parking spot for an entire year - has a minimum donation of $100. Q: When is the last date I can give?
A: This year's campaign ends June 14, 2013. Although the fiscal year doesnt end until June 30, we need to allow time for payroll and our central department to process gifts. Please make your gift to the Employee Giving Campaign by June 14, 2013.
