Overview
While there is no cure for congestive heart failure, there are medical
and surgical tools for treating it. The Main Line Health Heart Center
specializes in diagnosing and treating patients with advanced heart
failure. We offer aggressive medical and surgical care focusing on
preventing progression of the disease and improving quality of life.
Those capabilities include:
-
Infusion therapy
-
Ventricular assist device, or heart pump, therapy
-
Destination therapy, which is long-term mechanical circulatory
support for patients with end-stage heart failure
-
Biventricular pacemakers and defibrillators
Our patients also benefit from access to clinical trials through our
clinicians’ work in developing innovative therapies.
The Main Line Team
At the Main Line Health Heart Center, our board-certified medical and
surgical directors lead a multi-disciplinary team to care for patients
with advanced heart failure. Our team includes a leading cardiac surgeon
experienced in heart transplant, total artificial heart transplant and
ventricular assist device implant.
We have a nurse practitioner dedicated to patients undergoing
ventricular assist device therapy. All patients benefit from exceptional
nursing care: Main Line Health’s Bryn Mawr, Lankenau and Paoli Hospitals
have been recognized with Magnet® designation by the American Nurses
Credentialing Center (ANCC). This designation places Main Line Health in
the top 3 percent of hospitals nationwide for nursing excellence.
