Overview
As a patient of the Main Line Health Heart Center, you benefit from deep
and broad resources throughout our health system – particularly when it
comes to stroke. The Joint Commission has certified Bryn Mawr Hospital,
Lankenau Medical Center, Paoli Medical Center and Riddle Hospital as
Primary Stroke Centers. Additionally, the Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital is
accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Rehabilitation
Facilities (CARF). Perhaps most importantly, we follow a formal “Stroke
Alert” system for notifying key departments and clinicians when an acute
stroke patient is identified. We also maintain dedicated stroke units
and specialized staff at each hospital.
Everything we do is designed to encourage:
-
Stroke prevention
-
Rapid evaluation
-
Diagnosis
-
Management
-
Rehabilitation
The Main Line Team
At each site, Main Line Health has program coordinators, physician
coordinators and a medical director who are dedicated to stroke.
Our Experience
Each year, Main Line Health treats more than 1,500 patients with
strokes, transient ischemic attacks (TIAs) and hemorrhagic bleeds. In
addition to treating a high volume of patients, we also offer the
benefits of high technology. Main Line Health has a state-of-the-art
64-slice CT scanner, which provides up to 50 percent reduction in
radiology, and other leading CT scanners, which reduce radiation by 40
percent.
The American Stroke Association (ASA) has recognized Main Line Health
time and again, with ASA Bronze Achievement Awards to Bryn Mawr
Hospital, Paoli Medical Center and Riddle Memorial Hospital and ASA
Silver and Silver Plus Awards to Lankenau Medical Center.
Why Choose Main Line Health
The stroke programs at Main Line Health seek to improve the outcomes of
