The Latest Technology
Digital Mammography
Mammography is the first line of defense in the detection of breast
cancer. The Holloway Breast Health Center uses digital mammography,
which captures X-ray images of the breast and converts them to a
computerized display, providing greater clarity and reducing the need
for callbacks for additional images.
Computer-Aided Detection
Our R2 ImageChecker System is a computer-aided detection system that
uses advanced software to analyze a mammogram and highlight
suspicious areas for the radiologist to review more closely. Use of this
system can aid in earlier detection of cancer, which is key to a better
outcome.
High-Resolution Ultrasound
Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to create an image of breast
tissue. Ultrasound can often reveal whether a lump is filled with fluid
or is solid. High-resolution ultrasound provides superior detail for a
more accurate and complete analysis of breast abnormalities.
DEXA Scanning
Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scanning, also known as bone
density scanning or bone densitometry, is a simple, painless procedure
that measures bone density, an accurate predictor for osteoporosis.
Since many women with a higher risk of breast cancer should not use
estrogen therapies for the treatment of osteoporosis, determining a risk
for bone weakness is important.
