Emergency Department

Lankenau's Emergency Department (ED) was expanded and renovated, with improvements made to both the physical environment and to workflow procedures, resulting in a faster, more comfortable and efficient experience for patients, family members and staff.

Upgrades to the ED include:

• A new patient entrance and streamlined registration and triage areas to reduce waiting time and expedite patient flow

• Quadruple the number of triage bays for quicker patient evaluation. Triage bays are equipped with the latest technology and follow LEAN principles for maximum efficiency and quality of care

• New family-friendly waiting room that is larger, quieter and more comfortable 

• New patient restrooms and private consult room

• Process improvements to improve the speed of patient access to care and to ease the transition from the ED to Admissions
