Thea Joseph (Flushing, New York) studied
art at the School of Visual Arts and
Parsons School of Design. She began her
art career as a book designer for Harper
and Row Publishers, and also worked in
freelance graphic design and commercial
art before the onset of her disability.
Joseph has multiple sclerosis and uses a
wheelchair due to partial paralysis. She
is right-handed, but because her hand is
inflexible and tires easily, she is
forced to work on a small scale.
