Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital is pleased to announce it is the first rehabilitation facility in the United States to receive accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for its Amputee Rehabilitation Program.
In presenting the accreditation, CARF noted that Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital showed exemplary performance in meeting the requirements for accreditation. The CARF-established guidelines for receiving accreditation include providing “a person-centered amputation specialty program that utilizes a continuum of care with a holistic inter-disciplinary team approach.” The CARF accreditation team noted Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital’s follow-up services to patients along with its Amputee Support Group, which was established specifically to provide patients the opportunity meet to discuss challenges they face as a result of their amputations. Through the Amputee Support Group, patients share with each other ways they stay active and the support group is a resource for patients to learn more about prosthetics and amputations from individuals facing similar challenges.
CARF also cited the facility’s strong medical staff and its focus on building strong relationships with referring physicians and hospitals. “The well-defined structure established for patient education and the support provided to the staff to build and expand on competencies makes Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital a leader in the field of amputee rehabilitation.”
