The Lankenau Medical Center’s fourth-year clinical clerkship for medical
students consists of four weeks. These four weeks are designed as an OB
SUB I. This includes the delivery room, post partum and ante partum/high
risk floors.
While on this service you are under the direction of the OB chief who
will give your assignments during the rotation. While on this rotation
you will also be responsible for taking at least one (1) Friday night
and one (1) Sunday 12 hr shift on call.
We are limited to one student per four (4) week rotation. If you are
interested in applying please contact Ms. Rosemarie Weisenbach (weisenbachr@mlhs.org)
with your dates and an application will be sent to you. Please no
phone calls.
Gyn Oncology Sub I (open only to Thomas Jefferson Students)
This rotation is only open to students from Thomas Jefferson who are in
their fourth (4) year. In order to apply for this block you must go
through the Ob/Gyn student clerkship director. For questions regarding
this rotation please contact Ms. Rosemarie Weisenbach (weisenbachr@mlhs.org).
The Gyn Oncology service is very busy. It includes ample exposure
to surgical procedures and caring for critically ill patients, both
post-operatively and those admitted for evaluation and management of
complications, or treatment of their disease. Under the direct
supervision of the faculty gynecologic oncologists, the student learns
the medical and surgical management of pelvic malignancies.
Additionally, time is spent in the gynecologic oncologists’ private
office where colposcopy, cryosurgery and other minor diagnostic
procedures are performed. One of the gynecologic oncologist has
special talent with laparoscopic surgery and is credentialed in DaVinci
robotic surgery, which adds another dimension to the student’s
experience.
