The Gyn Oncology service is very busy. It includes ample exposure to
surgical procedures and caring for critically ill patients, both
post-operatively and those admitted for evaluation and management of
complications, or treatment of their disease. Under the direct
supervision of the faculty gynecologic oncologists, the student learns
the medical and surgical management of pelvic malignancies.
Additionally, time is spent in the gynecologic oncologists’ private
office where colposcopy, cryosurgery and other minor diagnostic
procedures are performed. One of the gynecologic oncologist has special
talent with laparoscopic surgery and is credentialed in DaVinci robotic
surgery, which adds another dimension to the student’s experience.
