Bryn Mawr, Paoli and Lankenau Medical Centers Granted Magnet®
Designation
Bryn Mawr, Paoli and Lankenau Medical Centers received the prestigious
Magnet recognition in 2005 and 2010 by the American
Nurses Credentialing Center, which signifies that our nurses are
among the nation's best in terms of their skills, outcomes,
professionalism and commitment to superior patient care. About 6% of
U.S. hospitals achieve Magnet recognition -- only 3% do it
again.
Developed by the American Nurses Association, the Magnet Recognition
Program® recognizes healthcare organizations that provide exemplary
nursing care. Magnet designation is accepted nationally as the gold
standard in nursing exellence.
To achieve Magnet recognition, organizations must apply to the ANCC and
undergo a rigorous, multi-faceted evaluation. The designation is
bestowed for four years, after which the organization much reapply and
prove it not only maintained a high level of care since initial
designation, but also surpassed it.
All Main Line Health hospitals — Bryn Mawr, Lankenau,
Paoli, Riddle and Bryn Mawr Rehab — are on the Magnet journey
to excellence together.
What Magnet Means to You
According to the Joint Commission: "Independently sponsored research
shows that Magnet facilities have positive outcomes for patients, nurses
and workplaces. Specifically, patients experience lower mortality rates,
shorter lengths of stay and increased satisfaction. Nurses experience
increased job satisfaction, increased perceptions of quality care given
and increased RN mix. [These] workplaces have a lower incidence of
needlestick injuries, increased RN retention and recruitment rates, and
lower rates of nurse burnout."
Ensuring Nursing Care When You Need It
The hallmark of Magnet organizations is an empowered nursing workforce
who spearheads improvements for patient care. This especially is true at
Main Line Health, where nurses are driving excellent patient outcomes
and garnering high patient satisfaction. The work culture here enables
nurses to gain the support, autonomy and tools they need to care for our
community.
Improving Patient Care
Facilities with Magnet recognition consistently outperform non-Magnet
organizations, delivering better patient outcomes. Shorter lengths of
stay. Lower mortality rates. Increased patient satisfaction rates.
That's the short list of third-party research results substantiating the
fact that Magnet is the most attractive choice in healthcare.
Creating a Positive Healthcare Environment
Today, hospitals and medical centers are more than just places to visit
when you're sick. We're dedicated to keeping you healthy. We've
transformed our workplace, fostering innovative, patient-focused ideas
and raising the bar on patient care. Our nurses and entire staff work
collaboratively, creating a magnetic culture in which new ideas and
excellent work practices thrive.
High employee morale = high patient satisfaction. Expect nothing
less.
"Recognizing quality patient care
and nursing excellence, the Magnet
Recognition Program® provides consumers
with the ultimate benchmark to measure
the quality of care they can expect to
receive."
