Hometown Center in Media, Pa., is a multi-purpose drop-in facility that offers a variety of services, programs and activities that encourage independent, healthy, active living resulting in positive physical and emotional wellness. The center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and is open to active and independent adults age 60+ who want to gather and share in meaningful activities. Membership is free and some classes do charge a nominal fee.

- PEPPI (Peer Exercise Program Promotes Independence) Exercise classes: stretching, toning and weight resistance
- Healthy Living classes: learn to exercise and eat nutritiously with weight control classes that teach, motivate and demonstrate healthy and successful weight loss. You will purchase real food in a supermarket and learn to cook everyday meals in your kitchen that will leave you feeling satisfied and full.

Information & Referral
The Havertown Center has trained staff to help center members that need assistance locating and accessing community supportive services, such as PACE, Property Tax and Rent Rebate, Income Tax Preparation during tax season, food and nutrition programs and more. Staff can assist members in filling out forms and in applying for benefits.
Members who are 65 or older may be eligible for reduced transportation to and from the center.
Volunteer Opportunities
You are never too old to offer your talents to others. The Hometown Center offers many opportunities and will assist in finding the perfect match for you.
- Activity Leader: Plan and lead a small recreational group or activity
- Home-Delivered Meal Driver: Deliver meals to homebound older adults that cannot prepare meals for themselves. This requires use of your own vehicle.
- Home-Delivered Meal Escort: Assist the Home-Delivered Meal Driver with delivering meals to homebound older adults
- Kitchen Helper: Prepare meals for center members and/or homebound older adults
- Office Help: Answer telephone calls, put together mailings, stuff envelopes and other office responsibilities on an as needed basis
- PEPPI Exercise Leader: Lead weight-resistance and stretching exercise programs for center participants. This requires successfully completing a training program.
- Senior Environmental Corps: A group of dedicated volunteers monitor water quality in neighborhood creeks. Opportunities include water testing, community education and outreach, computer data entry, preparing demonstrations and exhibits, care and oversight of equipment and photography. Training is provided.
