on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons as offering the very
best in cancer care. Only one in four hospitals that treat cancer
receive this special approval. It is a recognition of the quality of our

from the American College of Surgeons in these areas:
Analysis of Patient Outcomes (Standard 2.11):
This commendation was received for the publication of the Bryn
Mawr Hospital Annual Cancer Report.
AJCC Staging (Standard 4.3): AJCC staging is a
system developed by the American Joint Committee on Cancer for
describing the extent of cancer in a patient's body. Our staging
was 100 percent accurate from surveyor review.
CAP Protocols (Standard 4.6): 90 percent of our
cancer pathology reports included the scientifically validated
data elements as outlined in the College of American
Pathologists (CAP) cancer protocols.
Clinical Trial Accrual (Standard 5.2): The Bryn
Mawr Hospital program accrued over the six percent commendation
level for clinical trials each year.
Prevention and Early Detection (Standard 6.2):
There were three or more prevention and/or early detection
programs offered each year at Bryn Mawr Hospital.
Cancer-Related Improvements (Standard 8.2):
Three or more quality improvements related to cancer have been
implemented each year at Bryn Mawr Hospital.
