Support Services
If you are diagnosed with breast cancer, the Comprehensive Breast Center
offers numerous support services to get you through this difficult
period.

Psychosocial Support: A dedicated oncology
social worker is available to help patients and their families
cope with a cancer diagnosis. We offer group and individual
counseling, patient and family support groups, and community
resource referral.

Lymphedema Management Program: Lymphedema is a
condition in which extra lymph fluid builds up in tissues and

this sometimes painful condition.

Treatment: The Bryn Mawr Hospital Cancer Center
The Comprehensive Breast Center at Bryn Mawr Hospital is affiliated with
the Bryn Mawr Hospital Cancer Center. Bryn
Mawr Hospital has a long-standing tradition of excellence in cancer
care. Our staff expertise includes board-certified physicians,
oncology-certified nurses, certified technicians, genetic counselors,
registered dietitians, rehabilitation specialists and a dedicated
oncology social worker.
The medical and surgical specialists at Bryn Mawr Hospital have been
pioneers in minimally invasive treatments and groundbreaking research.
Among our accomplishments, Bryn Mawr Hospital physicians were the first
in the region to perform immediate breast reconstruction after
mastectomy, allowing women to maintain a natural appearance of the
breast. Our surgeons have also been actively involved in the
investigation of sentinel lymph node (SNL) biopsy, a procedure that
reduces the need for more extensive surgery. A sophisticated radiation
oncology center provides intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT),
brachytherapy and other cutting-edge treatments.
Our Community Clinical Oncology Program is one of only 50 cancer
research programs in the country designated by the National Cancer
Institute, allowing individuals access to national and international
clinical trials.
