The Cruisin' Not Boozin' Program offers an evidence-based evaluation tool that measures the program's impact and effectiveness in changing audience attitudes about safe driving habits.
A brief, anonymous questionnaire is administered to students before the Cruisin' Not Boozin' presentation and immediately after. The questions are modeled after surveys standardized by the National Highway Traffic Safety Association.
The Student Survey is offered to schools wishing to take a closer look at student use of substances, including frequency, attitudes about impaired driving or driving under the influence, use of seat belts, parental communication, perceived resources and comprehension of why they should not drink and drive.
A report showing survey results is sent to each individual school along with a final report compiling the results of all schools participating within that academic year. The final report not only evaluates the impact of the Cruisin' Not Boozin' Program, but also provides other useful statistics to help teachers, administrators and school nurses better understand their students' problems and issues in these areas.
The results can be used for applications to funding sources, school board meetings, PTO meetings or special interest groups such as SADD for programming purposes.
