Physical & Orthopedic
Therapy treatment is based on individual evaluation and utilizes
physical therapy modalities, manual techniques and therapeutic
exercises. Treatment is offered for a broad range of muscular-skeletal
diagnoses and impairments including sprains, strains, tendonitis,
bursitis, and fractures. Neurological, balance and gait training is also
available at the center. The Rehabilitation Institute also offers
women's health services, which include a continence center, pre and post
partem exercise and osteoporosis rehabilitation. A lymphedema
rehabilitation program is also offered.
Medically Based Fitness Program
Riddle’s Medically Based Fitness Program helps members achieve their
health and fitness goals in a structured and safe environment. This
program provides an individualized exercise plan based on scientific and
clinical principles, utilizing guidelines established by the American
College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). The program is supervised and
monitored by an exercise physiologist — a specially trained
and certified professional.
Cardiac Rehabilitation
The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is an individually designed,
medically supervised program for the recovering cardiac patient. This
program assists patients to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
This comprehensive program includes monitored exercise sessions,
nutritional counseling, diabetic education, stress management, monthly
support groups, cholesterol testing, and patient and family education.
Patients recovering from a heart attack, coronary bypass surgery, angina
and angioplasty are eligible for the cardiac program. Most insurance
companies and Medicare provide coverage for this program.
Sports Therapy
The Institute provides treatment and rehabilitation of sports-related
injuries, ranging from the recreational to the elite athlete. Injury
prevention is a key component of the sports therapy program. The
Institute’s staff is available for athletic training, coverage of events
and long-term contracts. The Riddle Rehab Institute currently provides
athletic training to the following schools:
-
Neumann College
-
RoseTree Media School District
-
Williamson Free School
Aquatic Therapy
The Institute’s Aquatic Physical Therapy includes a therapeutic/warm
water pool to facilitate small group exercise classes and one-on-one
aquatic therapy. Aquatic physical therapy provides buoyancy, support and
warmth, improving circulation and decreasing pain and muscle spasms. The
therapy allows patients an increased range of motion and flexibility
while improving strength and relaxation. For your convenience, our
aquatic physical therapy is offered at the Hospital as well as the Rocky
Run YMCA.
Hand Rehabilitation
The Hand Rehabilitation program provides specialized therapy for
individuals with disease or injury of the hand. Each patient's program
is designed by the therapist to promote optimal hand function through
the use of sophisticated therapeutic techniques. The Hand Rehabilitation
program is designed to treat patients of all ages with the following
injuries and diseases: traumatic hand injuries, cumulative trauma
disorders, burns, arthritis, nerve injuries, reflex sympathetic
dystrophy and congenital anomalies.
The Hand Rehabilitation program is staffed by Occupational Therapists
who are nationally registered and licensed by the State of PA.
