The Birthplace at Riddle Hospital makes new parents and their families feel right at home.

Our complete maternity care center features beautifully furnished suites for labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum, centralized computer monitoring, perinatal testing and Level II neonatal intensive care. We also offer infertility and genetic counseling. Expectant families can choose from a wide array of childbirth education classes.

We know there's no place quite like the comfort of home. That’s why we have taken extra care in designing The Birthplace at Riddle. Each suite is beautifully furnished—decorated in rich cherry wood, warmed with soft pastels and equipped with state-of-the-art birthing technology. Our comfortable design is intended to give the mother, father and baby a happy beginning for their new life together. Have your entire birthing experience in the comfort and privacy of your own beautifully furnished room… and, rest comfortably knowing that our computerized central monitoring system enables our nurses and doctors to observe your labor and your baby's heartbeat from various monitoring units throughout The Birthplace.

Nursery Services

Baby Room and Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Newborns are cared for in our cheerfully decorated Baby Room. We've designed it so that even the smallest of siblings can take a good look at the newest addition to their family. Should your baby need specialized care, you can be confident knowing we have a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit—a specially equipped nursery for babies with special needs—conveniently located within The Birthplace wing. Our staff of neonatologists (specialists in newborn care) and intensive care nursery nurses work side-by-side with our pediatricians to care for your newborns.

Maternal Fetal Medicine

Infertility, Genetic Counseling, Perinatology and High Risk Care

For your convenience, Riddle has a Perinatal Testing Center on site. Our full spectrum of specialized tests for perinatal diagnosis and fetal surveillance include Level I and Level II ultrasound and amniocentesis. Routine perinatal testing takes place during the week. Perinatologists and obstetricians collaboratively manage high-risk pregnancies. Genetic counseling is available for those who have questions regarding inherited traits. All of Riddle’s Birthplace professionals are expertly trained. They will work closely with you and your family, striving to alleviate your anxiety by letting you know what to expect every step of the way.

Surgical Services

Surgical Services and Anesthetics

If your obstetrician determines that Cesarean birth is the most appropriate delivery, this procedure will take place in a nearby surgical suite. Your comfort and well being as well as that of your baby are of our utmost concern. Riddle’s anesthesiologists will work closely with the obstetrical staff to provide pain relief alternatives.
