Dr. Lim’s expertise includes kidney and
pancreas transplant, vascular access,
and laparoscopic donor nephrectomy. He
earned his medical degree at the
University of Missouri-Kansas City
School of Medicine and School of Arts
& Sciences. He completed his General
Surgery residency at Albert Einstein
Medical Center followed by three
Transplant Surgery Fellowships at
Einstein, University of Pittsburgh, and
University of Chicago. Dr. Lim provides
on-call coverage and determines the
suitability of cadaveric kidneys for
transplantation and manages
postoperative care. He promotes living
organ donation through education and
outreach, and he performs living donor
nephrectomies using the most advanced
minimally invasive procedures, as well
as cadaver transplants. more

Dr. Superdock has been with the Lankenau
Transplant Program since its inception
in 1993. He is a United Network for
Organ Sharing (UNOS) credentialed
transplant program director. He is a
graduate of the Jefferson Medical
College of Thomas Jefferson University,
and completed his internship and
residencies in Internal Medicine at Duke
University. Dr. Superdock completed
fellowships in nephrology and transplant
nephrology at Vanderbilt University
Medical Center. Currently Dr. Superdock
is an assistant professor of medicine at
the Jefferson Medical College and serves
as Section Chief, Transplant Nephrology
for the Main Line Health System. He was
recognized by Philadelphia Magazine as a
“Top Doctor” in 1996, 2000 and 2002.

Umber Burhan, MD
Transplant Nephrologist
Board certified in internal medicine and
nephrology, Dr. Burhan earned her
medical degree at King Edward Medical
University in Lahore, Pakistan, and
completed her internal medicine
residency at Lankenau Hospital. She then
completed a fellowship in nephrology at
Lankenau Hospital, followed by a
fellowship in transplantation nephrology
at the Hospital of the University of
Pennsylvania. Prior to joining the
Lankenau Medical Center transplant team,
Dr. Burhan worked as a transplant
nephrologist at Robert Wood Johnson
University Hospital and was a Clinical
Assistant Professor of Medicine at
UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson School of
Medicine. She has a special interest in
transplantation immunology, metabolic
complications post transplant, and
transplantation in HCV and HIV infected
recipients.

Laurel Lerner, RN
Transplant Coordinator
Laurel joined the Lankenau Transplant
Team in 2002, after 14 years’ experience
with the Albert Einstein Transplant
Program. She has more than 20 years
experience in medical oncology,
medical/surgical intensive care and
outpatient organ transplants.

Liz Henry, RN, BSN, CCTN
Transplant Coordinator
Liz joined the transplant team in May of
2010, In addition to her Bachelor of
Science and Nursing Degree, which she
received from Thomas Jefferson
University, Liz is a Certified Clinical
Transplant Nurse, For the past ten years
she worked as a staff nurse on 2SW
caring for our transplant patients
throughout their hospitalization, Prior
to that, Liz worked at Thomas Jefferson
University Hospital caring for kidney,
pancreas and liver transplant patients,
Liz is involved in various committees
throughout the hospital and is committed
to bringing Organ Donor Awareness to
patients, as well as, to our
communities.

Maureen Bole, LSW, MSS
Social Worker
Maureen joined the Lankenau Kidney
Transplant Team in 2008. Before that,
she was attending full-time graduate
school at Bryn Mawr College to earn her
Master’s in Social Service. She was a
social work Intern with Lankenau’s
Emergency Department as well as
Hahnemann University Hospital’s Kidney,
Pancreas and Liver Transplant Program.
Maureen is a licensed social worker in
the state of Pennsylvania.

Transplant Assistants
The transplant assistants play a crucial
role in orchestrating behind the scenes
efforts to schedule appointments,
collect and maintain medical records and
assist in pre and post transplant care.
