Inpatient and outpatient care is offered by the physical medicine
specialists and therapists of Lankenau Medical Center in modern, fully
equipped facilities. Our services include physical therapy, occupational
therapy, and speech and language pathology.
Our physical medicine specialists, working in concert with therapists,
offer a variety of services, including electrodiagnostic testing for
nerve and muscle disorders; physiatric evaluations; treatment of
musculoskeletal, neurological, medical, orthopaedic and sports related
injuries; wound care; and rehabilitation physician consultation
services. Specialty programs include inpatient pulmonary rehabilitation,
inpatient cardiac rehabilitation, outpatient hand therapy, lymphedema
therapy and pediatrics therapy.
Our speech and language pathologists provide evaluation and treatment
for communication and swallowing disorders. Treatments include
videofluoroscopic swallowing studies and X-ray imaging of the swallowing
process. Our pathologists place emphasis on patient and family education
to ensure the continuum of care.
Our occupational therapists evaluate and treat individuals to help them
regain independence in everyday activities, including bathing, dressing,
household and community activities. They address issues of
diminished endurance and mobility, decreased range of motion, strength,
and coordination, visual, cognitive and feeding/writing deficits, pain
and safety. A collaborative approach between patient/family and
therapist is achieved through education and positive reinforcement.
Lankenau Medical Center’s physical therapists evaluate and treat
patients with limitations in mobility, ambulation, range of motion,
strength, endurance, pain, and safety. Through education and
treatment, they assist in advancing an individual to the optimum level
of function.
