We're Prepared
Data Transmission to the ER en Route
Our ambulances are equipped with the latest heart monitoring and
defibrillator technology that can transmit data on your condition en
route to the hospital. We’re the first hospital in Delaware County to
offer this level of care. Sending data en route helps our ER team to
fully assess your situation and determine the proper treatment you need
much sooner. And that can be a real life saver. Studies have shown that
the shorter the time between a patient’s arrival to the hospital to
getting the proper treatment can mean less damage, a shorter hospital
stay, better outcomes and a reduced cost of care.
Rapid Evaluation Unit
The new Rapid Evaluation Unit of the Emergency Department focuses
on patient comfort, efficiency and safety. The REU is designed to reduce
wait time for a patient to be seen by a practitioner and utilizes a team
approach to care. It allows for our main ED to treat more critically ill
patients. The new REU is Phase 1 of a two-phase expansion of the Riddle
Hospital Emergency Department.
Certified Chest Pain Center and Primary Stroke Center
Our hospital is accredited by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care
as a Chest Pain Center with PCI and also certified by the Joint
Commission as a Primary Stroke Center. Evidence-based protocols are
followed which can significantly improve outcomes. For chest pain
patients, this means that processes are in place that meet strict
criteria aimed at reducing the time from onset of symptoms to diagnosis
and treatment. For stroke patients, brain imaging scans are
immediately available. And a neurologist is available to conduct
evaluations and use clot-busting medications when appropriate.
Women's Emergency Heart Care
Women have different heart attack symptoms than men. But thanks to our
Women’s Heart Initiative, the ER teams at all our hospitals are trained
to recognize them. That’s something every woman can feel good about.
