We especially appreciate generous gifts to the Paoli Hospital Foundation
that are not designated for a specific program or area. These
gifts give us the flexibility to use them where they
can have the greatest impact. This ensures Paoli Hospital's
ability to meet unexpected needs and pursue new opportunities — an
essential part of delivering the most up-to-date health care to an
ever-growing population.
Giving priorities include the following:
-
Where Great Care Comes to Life. Maternity and
Nursery Expansion Campaign at Paoli Hospital:
Gradually over the years, our Maternity Unit has grown
from 11 rooms at its inception in 1995 to 26 rooms
nearly five years ago. During that time, more and more
families have chosen Paoli for its excellent maternity
care and very high patient satisfaction, ranking in the
top percentage nationally. Still in the early phase of
this campaign, we hope to raise $4 million in charitable
support from our community to offset the cost of the
expansion and renovations – and we need your help.
In planning this expansion, we sought the advice of
architects, nurses, obstetricians, physicians and
neonatologists. In doing so, this expansion will
incorporate the latest concepts in family and
patient-centered care including renovations of the
existing private patient rooms in the Maternity Unit, a
new and larger Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and the
addition of 24 new private patient rooms, 12
labor/delivery rooms, and four new triage rooms.
Additionally, each labor/delivery room will contain the
latest amenities; a significantly larger nursery will be
available for newborns while new mothers rest; and two
new Operating Rooms adjacent to the Maternity Unit will
be dedicated to patients requiring Cesarean sections.
Please join us supporting our Maternity and Nursery
expansion campaign. Your charitable support is needed to
help ensure that Paoli can expand to meet the
community’s increasing demand for maternity services and
will help the region’s families and children continue to
have the most current technologies available.

Hospital Priorities Fund: Paoli Hospital
prudently manages its resources, but we are not immune to
increasing financial pressures. Yet we remain committed to
maintaining a high standard of superior patient care and
determined to invest in the most advanced medical and surgical
treatments and procedures that are more commonly associated with
large urban medical centers. The Hospital Priorities Fund
helps guarantee Paoli Hospital will be prepared to meet the
challenge of caring for our growing community’s significant
health care needs. In the past, this Fund has provided
support for community services programs, new technologies and
the operations of the Foundation.
-
Nursing Excellence Fund: Paoli has been
designated a Magnet® Hospital by the American Nurses'
Credentialing Center, which is the highest mark of excellence
any hospital's nursing service can achieve. On average, a Paoli
Hospital nurse has 15 years of clinical experience, and 33
percent of our registered nurses have professional certification
in their fields of specialty. Private support enables
Paoli Hospital to give these exceptional nurses every
opportunity to advance their training and education.
-
Regional Trauma Center: Help develop and sustain
our new Regional Trauma Center. As of October 1,
2010 Paoli Hospital is an accredited Regional Level II Trauma
Center, bringing long-awaited, life-saving treatment to the
region. A traumatic injury can occur at any time to anyone
and when it is life threatening, the first hour to seek
treatment is critical. A study determined that only
37 percent of county trauma victims arrived at
a trauma center within the recommended 60 minutes, known in the
medical profession as the ‘golden hour’ when patients will have
a greater likelihood of survival and recovery. In fact,
the task force concluded that the average transport time had
risen by 15 to 20 minutes since a trauma center in the western
part of the county had closed in 2002. And that meant a
transport time of 70 to 75 minutes for trauma victims, well
outside the 'golden hour.' Your support of Paoli
Hospital’s Regional Trauma Center Fund helps with the purchase
of expensive life-saving trauma-specific equipment in our
Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, and Operating Rooms
and trauma nurse education and training allowing the
Hospital to be better positioned to serve our community’s
medical emergencies.
-
Cancer Center: As an affiliate of the Fox Chase
Network, the Cancer Center at Paoli Hospital offers innovative
technology and sophisticated, comprehensive oncology care within
our community. Every year, gifts to the Paoli Hospital
Foundation ensure that people with cancer can access the most
advanced diagnostic procedures, treatments, and support close to
home, rather than having to travel long distances. The Cancer
Center also provides free wigs and family support services to
those who need them.
