Thrift Shop

The Riddle Thrift Shop became a reality in 1961 with a $7,000 line of credit from the Riddle Memorial Hospital Associated Auxiliaries and a year’s lease on a six-room building at 315 North Monroe Street in Media.

Originally the shop was run by the auxilians with individual auxiliaries taking the responsibility of staffing the shop for a two-week period.

The shop moved to two additional locations in Media before settling in its permanent home on the hospital grounds in March of 1973.

Since 1971, the Riddle Thrift Shop has contributed over $3 million to the Associated Auxiliaries of Riddle Memorial Hospital. The Associated Auxiliaries of Riddle Memorial Hospital have donated over $9 million to Riddle Memorial Hospital.

Volunteers

Our volunteers are our greatest assets. We would not be able to exist without them. They hold many different positions throughout the shop. Volunteering is a wonderful way to make a difference. Give it a try.

Shopping

Daily 9:30am to 4:00pm
Saturday 9:30 am to 3:00 p.m

Lower level with the household and furniture items closes 15 minutes before the upper Level with the clothing.

Please bring your sellable household and clothing items to the rear entrance during our regular business hours.

Tax receipts are available. We also appreciate contributions of paper & plastic bags.

Regular Consignment

Sign-up List is posted on the back door at 8:30 a.m.

You must be present to pay your $2.50 fee to hold your spot on the list.

Changes in Consignment Hours will be announced on the tape recording each Monday after 12:30 p.m.

Call ahead during inclement weather to be certain that we are open and taking consignments.

Drop-Off Consignment

You can set up an appointment for a Drop-Off Consignment by calling 610-627-4074.

Riddle Thrift Shop retains 50% of the selling price.

A copy of the Drop-Off Procedure may be picked up at the shop.

Consignment Policy

All clothing must be clean and pressed, in style, in season, and in good condition.

All household items must be clean.

Glass/dish sets must have a minimum of 4.

Your Consignor has the right to reject or refuse any item she/he feels does not meet our standards.

The Riddle Thrift Shop retains 40% of the selling price on regularly consigned items. We retain 50% of the selling price on consignments using the Drop-off system.

Check will be mailed the week following the pick-up date.

Each week we publish a NOT-TAKING LIST of overstocked items. Please call on Mondays after 12:30pm for a taped message containing the list.

MINIMUM CONSIGNING PRICE = $3.00

Twenty-five items on a consignment sheet

Limit of one consignment sheet per person per week.

You must consign under your own name.

There is a limit of five of any one item on each sheet.

Children’s clothing items are limited to 10 items per sheet (applies to sizes 0 thru 18)

Other Limits

Baskets and Picture Frames must be valued at $5.00
1 Adult Coat/ 1 Child’s coat per sheet
1 bedspread/ 1 pair of shoes per sheet
2 pairs of ladies’ jeans/ 3 pieces of luggage per sheet
You have the right to reclaim any of your unsold items in accordance with the pick-up procedure printed on the consignment contract.

Items priced under $4.00 can not be reconsigned.

Articles picked up may not be reconsigned for at least 2 weeks. Reconsigned items must be reduced by 20%. We reserve the right to pull from the selling floor any reconsigned item that does not meet the above criteria.

Large furniture may be reconsigned immediately.

It is subject to the 20% reduction policy.

Furniture reconsignment must take place during regular consignment hours.

The Riddle Thrift Shop is not responsible for damaged or lost articles consigned or left in the shop.

Unsold items not reclaimed by 3:00 p.m. on the pick-up date become the property of the shop.

ANYONE BUYING OR SELLING ITEMS ON THRIFT SHOP PROPERTY WITHOUT PROPER AUTHORIZATION WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO CONSIGN WITH THE SHOP.
