levels of care from acute care to premature and/or ill newborns. The
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is staffed by full-time, on-site
neonatal-perinatal medicine subspecialists and specially-trained
neonatal nurse practitioners. Respiratory, physical and occupational
therapists also participate in the care of babies in the NICUs. This
division provides consultation to members of the obstetrical, perinatal
and pediatric staffs, and provides a Neonatal Transport Service to area
hospitals without their own NICUs. Ongoing neurodevelopmental follow-up
of high-risk NICU graduates is also provided by the members of the
division, as part of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Follow-up Program.
