Offering a Range of Diagnostic and Treatment Options
The Eye Center at Bryn Mawr Hospital was established in 1983 with the
availability of fluorescein angiography and an argon laser to diagnose
and treat retinal diseases. Today we have two different lasers available
for the additional treatment of glaucoma, capsulotomies (following
cataract surgery) and retina-vitreous complications. Cryosurgery
(freezing) is available for the treatment of peripheral retina holes and
small retinal detachments. The Eye Center's board-certified
ophtalmologists specialize in treating a wide variety of eye conditions,
including glaucoma, cataracts, and retinal and corneal diseases.
Available diagnostic tests include computerized digital-video
intravenous (IV) fluorescein angiography, which uses IV contrast
dye to detect retina problems, and computerized perimetry, which is
used to evaluate the visual field in patients with glaucoma and
neurologic eye problems. Other tests and instruments are available for
corneal evaluations and for analyzing anomalies of the optic nerve
head, as seen in glaucoma.
The Eye Center suite is located on the ground floor of the Medical
Building North next to the Outpatient Surgical Center. You can arrange
an appointment through a referral from your eye doctor by calling
484-476-2518 or 484-337-3422.
