Senior Life and Culture Series
FREE monthly presentations at the Annenberg Center at Lankenau Hospital throughout 2006-2007 featuring informative talks by senior health experts and lifestyle presentations.



Varicose Vein Screening Events
Bryn Mawr and Paoli Hospitals now offer a minimally invasive procedure that treats varicose veins with little or no pain. Patients walk away from the procedure and are back to everyday activities typically within a day.  Call 1-866-CALL-MLH to find out more information about this new procedure! 



Stroke Screenings
Learn the warning signs and your risk factors for stroke and "mini-strokes" or TIA's. This 15-minute screening includes blood pressure and heart rate check and a nurse will listen to the carotid arteries in your neck. Take the opportunity to learn the warning signs of a stroke and discuss your personal risk factors with a nurse. Stroke screenings taking place in your community. AARP 55 Alive Safe Driving Class
An 8 hour class held over a two day period offered to those 55 and older. This program reinforces safe driving habits and reviews the rules of the road. Many insurance companies offer a discount to those completing the class. Free Assistive Technology at Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital
Equipment designed to aid persons with physical or cognitive disabilities.


Caring Assistance and Referral for the Elderly (C.A.R.E.)
The Caring Assistance and Referral for the Elderly Program provides low-and-moderate income frail older adults and their caregivers with education and support to access services and resources needed by the older adult who wishes to continue to live at home.  C.A.R.E. will empower the client and/or caregiver to make the decisions needed to resolve the problems that hinder provision of health and social services.  For more information on this program, please call 610-526-8336.


Diabetes Management Course
A 12-hour group course in diabetes management which involves professionals from a variety of specialties to help you take charge of your health by learning about diabetes and the importance of controlling your glucose level. Our goal is to help you avoid acute and chronic conditions that can result from diabetes.  For more information, call 610-560-8020 .

Health-e Coach for Seniors
A registered nurse provides health counseling and education in partnership with local senior centers.

Theraband Strength Training (for cardiac patients and older adults)
An exercise program to strengthen and tone your muscles. This program complements your aerobic workout using resistance training with elastic tubing. Class taught by an exercise physiologist and certified fitness instructor. (Note: There is a Fee associated with this class).
