Bryn Mawr and Paoli Welcome the Tran-Sit Car!

Path: Main Line Health < About MLH <

(BRYN MAWR, PA/PAOLI, PA; March 4, 2008) -- Learning how to get in and out of a car, a mini-van, or any vehicle for that matter, is an important part of returning to normal activities after hip/knee surgery or an illness that has left a patient impaired.

Teaching car transfer skills has become much easier for physical and occupational therapists at Bryn Mawr and Paoli Hospital's Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department with a new WT-960 Tran-Sit® Car Transfer Simulator. The simulator, designed to look and feel like a real car, provides a safe and convenient alternative to "parking lot" transfer training sessions.

Feeling comfortable using a car is vital for patients following surgery. Tran-Sit helps therapists safely assist patients to practice this everyday activity. A key feature is a hydraulic system that can adjust the car to any height according to the patient's own car.

Other features include: rugged steel construction; reclining vinyl bucket seats; seat belts; tilt steering column; gas/brake pedals; and open back design for easy access by the therapist.
