Lankenau Institute for Medical Research
Department Head - James M. Mullin, PhD

The Lankenau Institute for Medical Research is located on the same campus as Lankenau Hospital. The Institute offers the opportunity for training in basic and clinical research of NIH funded projects, generating on average more than 40 peer-reviewed publications per year. Traversing sixteen research groups, current investigations include the following areas: smooth muscle and endothelial vascular biology, cardiac electrophysiology, neurodegenerative processes, muscle development biology, cell adhesion, stem cell biology, mouse genomics, DNA repair mechanisms, skin cancer, programmed cell death, gastrointestinal physiology, cancer prostate cancer and the molecular mechanisms of aging. More information on these programs and investigators may be obtained from the Institute website:  www.limr.org. Students will work closely with the principal investigators on any number of projects with participation possibly eventually leading to a co-authorship on a publication.

If you would like to learn more about our medical student rotation please call the Medical Student Clerkship Coordinator at (610) 645-2008.
