Our Faculty...


James F. Burke, M.D. is the Director of Medical Education for Lankenau Hospital as well as the Program Director for the Cardiology Fellowship Program. Dr. Burke received his M.D. degree from Thomas Jefferson University Medical School and graduated Cum Laude. He has an active cardiology practice. He served his residency in Internal Medicine as well as his fellowship in Cardiology at Lankenau Hospital. Dr. Burke is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases and is certified with special qualifications in Critical Care Medicine. He is Clinical Professor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University School of Medicine. More Info!
Cynthia D. Smith, M.D. is the Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program. She received her M.D. degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She served a residency in Internal Medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital. She was an Instructor in Medicine at the Harvard Medical School and on staff at Massachusetts General Hospital prior to relocating to the Philadelphia area. She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Smith is Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University School of Medicine. Drs. Smith and Curran were awarded a grant by the National Board of Medical Examiners for a Professionalism Study. More Info!
Amy L. Curran, M.D. is the Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program.  She  received her M.D. degree from  Temple University where she was appointed to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society.  She completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania where she won a Penn Pearl teaching award from the Medical students of the University.  She spent a year as Chief Medical Resident at Lankenau Hospital. She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.  She is also on the Academic Hospitalist team. Drs. Smith and Curran were awarded a grant by the National Board of Medical Examiners for a Professionalism Study. More Info!

Daniel C. Lazowick, D.O., F.A.C.P.  is the Director of Medical Education for Lankenau’s Osteopathic Internship Program.  Dr. Lazowick received his osteopathic degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine where he also served his internship.  He then came to Lankenau for his residency in Internal Medicine. He joined the staff in 1997 and has been actively involved with our teaching program ever since.  He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University School of Medicine and is on the Adjunct Faculty at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Lazowick is boarded by the American Board of Internal Medicine as well as the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine. He is the Medical Director of Lankenau's Transitional Care Center. More Info!

Jerome Santoro, M.D. is Chairman of the Department of Medicine for Main Line Health and a clinician in Infectious Diseases. Dr. Santoro received his M.D. from Temple University School of Medicine. He served a residency in Internal Medicine at Temple University Hospital and a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. Dr. Santoro is Clinical Professor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University School of Medicine and Adjunct Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine as well as the Subspecialty Board in Infectious Diseases.Dr. Santoro serves on the Boards of the Lankenau Hospital Foundation, the Lankenau Institute for Medical Research, the Sharpe Foundation and the Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital. He also serves on numerous Committees within Main Line Health including the Medical Executive Committee, Quality Council, Strategic Planning, Medical Education and Continuing Medical Education. More Info!
M. Susan Burke, M.D., F.A.C.P. is the Medical Director of the Lankenau Hospital Outpatient Clinic and works closely with the Medical Residents in their outpatient training. She is also preceptor for the Jefferson Medical Students. Dr. Burke received her M.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. She served her residency in Internal Medicine at Lankenau Hospital. She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and has Added Qualifications in Geriatrics. She is Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University School of Medicine. More Info!
David A. Cohen, M.D., F.A.C.P. is the Assistant Director of the Continuing Medical Education Program for Main Line Health. He is the Chairman for the Medical Mortality/Morbidity Conferences and the Program Chairman for the Annual Main Line Health Conference. Dr. Cohen received his M.D. degree from Hahnemann University School of Medicine and served his residency in Internal Medicine at Presbyterian University of Pennsylvania Medical Center. He also served a year as Chief Resident at Episcopal Hospital.Dr. Cohen is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University School of Medicine. He serves as Chairman of the CME Committee at Lankenau. More Info!
Gary H. Friday, M.D. is the Medical Director of the Main Line Health Stroke Program and the Faculty Administrator for the residents' academic projects and journal club. He received his M.D. degree from Temple University School of Medicine. He served two years of an Internal Medicine Residency at Harlem Hospital Center and served a residency in Neurology at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. He served a fellowship in Neuroepidemiology at Temple University Hospital. More Info!
Jennifer Laughlin, D.O.  is a full-time Academic Hospitalist. Dr. Laughlin received her osteopathic degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She recently completed her Internal Medicine residency at Lankenau Hospital and is currently board eligible. She was awarded the John S. Zachariah, M.D. Humanitarian Award by her peers and attending staff at Lankenau.
Michael A. Manko, M.D., F.A.C.P., is the Education Coordinator for the Internal Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Manko was former Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Lankenau and is heavily involved in the recruitment process for the Residency Program. He received his M.D. degree from the Temple University School of Medicine. He served his residency in Internal Medicine at Lankenau and a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine as well as the Subspecialty Board of Infectious Diseases. He is Clinical Professor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University School of Medicine. Colleen E. O'Connor, M.D. is a part-time Academic Hospitalist and our 4th year Clerkship Director. She received her BA degree in Philosophy from Boston College and her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. She served her residency in Internal Medicine at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington, MA. More Info!
Ward J. O'Donnell, M.D., has a large practice in Internal Medicine. Dr. O'Donnell received his M.D. degree from Jefferson Medical College. He served his residency in Internal Medicine at Lankenau Hospital. Dr. O'Donnell is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He works as a preceptor of residents in the general medical clinic in addition to teaching morning report and board review. He is a long-time member of the Lankenau Credentials Committee. More Info!
Jonathan B. Stallkamp, M.D. is a full-time Academic Hospitalist. Dr. Stallkamp received his BS degree in Molecular Biochemistry and Biophysics from Yale University and his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College. He served his residency in Internal Medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Stallkamp is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. More Info!
Khoa Tran, M.D., is the Senior Academic Hospitalist. Dr. Tran received his medical degree from New York Medical College. He served his Internal Medicine residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Tran joined the Lankenau Staff in July 2002. More Info! 
Rahhika Varada, M.D. is a full-time Academic Hospitalist. Dr. Varada received her BA degree in International Development from Brown University and her medical degree from Brown University Medical School.
