The Nephrology Fellowship Program at Lankenau Hospital is a two-year, fully accredited course of study, following the completion of a three-year general internal medicine residency.
Applicants should be board-certified or board-eligible in internal medicine. Board-eligible candidates will be expected to
pass their internal medicine board exams before completing their Fellowship.
The Fellowship is heavily weighted toward "hands-on" clinical experience although clinical research is a critical part of
the overall part of the program.
Mission Statement The mission of the Nephrology Fellowship Program at Lankenau Hospital is to provide a high quality educational and research
experience in the field of nephrology. The process shall involve regular teaching by the members of the Division of Nephrology
and program director. Clinical and/or bench research shall be performed by each nephrology fellow such that, at a minimum,
an abstract, worthy of presentation at a professional nephrology meeting shall be completed. Optimally, a manuscript and publication
will also be completed.
The Nephrology Fellowship will help develop the fellow to be a competent, practicing, clinical nephrologist who will be prepared
for and successfully take the Nephrology Sub-Specialty Board Certification Examination. Areas of core competence will include,
but are not limited to, dialysis (hemo, CRRT and peritoneal), renal transplantation and consultation (ambulatory and inpatient),
as well as appropriate renal-related procedures.
