Mission Statement:

The Gastroenterology Fellowship Program at Lankenau Hospital strives to provide an exceptional clinical experience in the study and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases and illnesses supported by appropriate bench and clinical research. A diverse spectrum of pathology, coupled with scheduled didactic and interactive conferences as well as daily interactions with attending physicians provides the foundation of the learning experience.

The Gastroenterology Fellowship Program at Lankenu Hospital blends the academics of a university institution with the personalized experience of a community hospital. The combination fosters learning and teaches communication skills and a humanistic attitude necessary to succeed in clinical practice. Our goal is to train outstanding clinical Gastroenterologist dedicated to serving their communities.

Lankenau's Gastroenterology Fellowship Program is a three-year, fully-accredited course of study, following the completion of a three-year general internal medicine residency. Applicants should be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine. Board Eligible candidates will be expected to pass their Internal Medicine Board Exams before completing their Fellowship. Although the Fellowship is heavily weighted toward "hands-on" clinical experience, clinical research is a critical part of the overall program.
