Recognizing that People Are Unique
Because people have different abilities and interests, each participant is assessed by the Center Director, with the family, to identify strengths, needs and preferences. Based on this comprehensive assessment, an individualized plan of care is developed. The Director and staff select and schedule activities and programs most appropriate for the individual. Center staff continually adapts programming to meet the participant's changing needs and interests.

  • The Independence Program is for adults with physical difficulties such as stroke, Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis. Activities are designed to strengthen individual skills and maintain as much independence as possible.
  • The Memory Program is for individuals with memory loss. Common diagnoses are Alzheimer's Disease and other forms of dementia and brain injury. Emphasis is placed on increasing participants' sense of accomplishments and self-worth, while maintaining their safety.

Having special needs or requiring extra attention should not discourage anyone from considering Adult Day Services.

Benefits to Caregivers and Families
Being a caregiver is a valuable and rewarding challenge and caregivers make an important contribution in society. However, caring for a loved one at home can be overwhelming and can result in increased stress and isolation for both caregivers and their loved ones.

MCSS' Adult Day Services allows caregivers to work outside the home, pursue their own personal interests and hobbies, or simply get the rest they need from 24-hour caregiving so they can maintain their health and strength. Caregivers enjoy the peace of mind of knowing that their loved ones are receiving the care they need in a safe and stimulating environment.

In addition, Mid County Senior Services offers convenient locations and hours of operation, coordination of other health and supportive care services, support groups for caregivers, educational services, long-term care counseling, and a professional staff.

An Affordable Option
Mid County Senior Services' Adult Day Services is a cost-effective alternative to assisted living or nursing home placement. Center staff will work with families and caregivers to customize the best payment option for their situations. Some payment options include direct payment, long-term care insurance, County Office of Aging, Veterans Administration and the Office of Mental Retardation.
