Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital’s Medical Rehabilitation Programs are designed
to meet the rehabilitation needs of individuals who have a broad range
of acute or chronic illnesses that cause temporary or permanent
disability. Our programs combine medical care with rehabilitation
services to help re-establish the functional, physical, cognitive and
behavioral skills required to live as independently as possible.

Tailored Programs
-
Oncology Program: Improves strength and endurance, and
reduces the debilitating effects of major surgery, chemotherapy
and/or radiation therapy.
-
Cardiology Program: Promotes an improved level of
function and an earlier return to activity. This program is
appropriate for the cardiac patient who has experienced a change
in functional status and who does not require continuous cardiac
monitoring or mechanical ventilation.
-
Pulmonary Program: Increases endurance, strength and
mobility while patients learn to conserve energy to minimize
respiratory distress.
Team Approach
Rehabilitative treatment emphasizes a team approach. The inpatient
treatment team typically includes a rehabilitation physician (a
physiatrist), an internal medicine physician, rehabilitation nurse,
pharmacist, physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech
therapist, psychologist and case manager. The team might also include a
registered dietitian and a recreational therapist.
The Scope of Our Services

offer clients the opportunity to choose the most appropriate program of
care based on the type and severity of their condition. We also address
any special lifestyle or vocational needs.
Treatment Emphasis
At Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital, the emphasis of our treatment is on
integrating and stabilizing the patient’s medical and postoperative
needs with their rehabilitation needs. We support this by creating a
treatment plan that best reflects the patient’s medical status, physical
