Since joining Lankenau Hospital in September 2006, I have come to know the physicians and staff here as a caring and talented group of individuals dedicated to helping others lead healthier lives. Lankenau Hospital is an academic medical center that serves the community with a wide array of cutting edge clinical specialties, supported by medical education and research. Lankenau's clinical staff provides the highest quality services and care to tens of thousands of people each year.

Our physicians are among the best in the region, pioneering innovative techniques that improve the quality of life for our patients. We offer our services on an inpatient and outpatient basis here at our Wynnewood, PA campus and at the Main Line Health Center, located in the Lawrence Park Shopping Center in Broomall, PA.

Lankenau Hospital has been recognized over the years for its outstanding care by many national organizations. The Main Line Health Heart Center at Lankenau Hospital is acclaimed for its clinical expertise and comprehensive services including cardiac surgery, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology and a Heart Failure and Transplant Program. More than 95 percent of our open heart surgeries are performed "off pump," making Lankenau a national teaching center for this technique. For the last three years, the Main Line Health Heart Center at Lankenau Hospital has been recognized as a ThomsonTop 100 Cardiovascular Hospital. The annual award objectively measures performance on key criteria at the nation's top performing acute care hospitals. In addition, our cardiac surgery program has been recognized by Pennsylvania for outstanding outcomes.

In addition to our Heart Center, other specialty services and programs include a state-of-the-art Cancer Center, a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and a highly regarded Kidney Transplant Program. We are the birthplace of more than 2,000 Lankenau babies each year, and our Health Education Center is host to 12,000 children and families annually. Our Emergency Room cares for the most urgent needs in our community.

As a tertiary care center, Lankenau is committed to offering the latest technological advances including PET scanning for diagnosing cancer; 3T MRI, the most powerful available; advanced radiation oncology treatments and; recently, the DaVinci robotic surgical device, enabling surgeons to perform life-saving techniques with less pain and trauma to the patient.

In addition to our commitment to medical education, Lankenau has a strong foundation in teaching and research. The Walter and Leonore Annenberg Conference Center for Medical Education has become a hub for the education of physicians and physicians in training. It enables Lankenau to attract medical and surgical experts from around the world for healthcare conferences and ultimately, to enhance our quality of care. This beautiful and fully-equipped conference center is the result of the generosity and vision of The Annenberg Foundation.

For almost 80 years, the scientists of the Lankenau Institute for Medical Research have been giving hope to millions of people suffering with life threatening illnesses. The Institute focuses on research in cancer and cardiovascular disease to improve diagnosis and treatment.
