The Lankenau Hospital Kidney Transplant Program provides the most modern standards of care in kidney disease and transplantation, in a convenient suburban location. Our nationally recognized program offers:

  • Consistent, individualized attention
  • A transplant team that works with patients from the initial stages of evaluation through the actual transplant and afterward
  • Long-term follow-up in collaboration with the patient's primary care physician and nephrologist
  • Experience with the latest anti-rejection medications and treatment techniques
  • Patient evaluation for living related, living unrelated and cadaver transplants
  • Accreditation by Medicare and UNOS
  • Dialysis access procedures

The Benefits of a Kidney Transplant
Kidneys are bean-shaped organs located in the middle of your back, one on each side of the spine. Each kidney weighs about five or six ounces, and is about the size of a baseball. To the members of your Lankenau Kidney Transplant team, a kidney transplant goes beyond life and death. It's the beginning of a new life for the recipient, one that is free from the inconvenience and uncertainty of dialysis.

Excellent Results
The Lankenau kidney transplant team has devised an immunosuppressive protocol that minimizes delayed graft functions (DGF) and decreases the incidence of acute rejection below 10 percent. Over the past five years, the one-year patient and graft survival at our program have been consistently above the national average.

At Lankenau, we see the way a kidney transplant can unite families and bring loved ones even closer together. We are proud to be the providers of this wonderful opportunity and equally proud of the success of our transplant program.
