The Brain and Spine Center offers specialized care for patients with back pain, neck pain, radiculopathy symptoms, congenital abnormalities or deformities of the spine, herniated disks, spinal cord disorders or injuries, degenerative spine conditions, spine tumors, and infections or inflammatory diseases of the spine. The Center also provides spine care for athletes of all ages—from teenagers to seniors.
Our Approach and Philosophy
At the Brain and Spine Center, patients with spine problems receive comprehensive, customized care that is seamlessly coordinated. The Center offers patients the unique opportunity to have an orthopaedic spine surgeon and a neurosurgeon collaborate on their care, with consultation from other specialists as needed. The result is a highly specialized team approach to diagnosis and treatment.
Our care philosophy can be summed up in 10 words: keep it simple, make it personal, and do it well.
Keep it simple. We know information about spine problems can be overwhelming—the unfamiliar words and complex-sounding treatments can make patients uneasy. We find it helps to keep things simple when explaining what’s going wrong, how to fix it, and what can be expected in the way of real-life improvements with treatment. Breaking things down into simple terms that are meaningful helps patients feel more at ease and in control during treatment and recovery.
Make it personal. Every patient is different. Age, weight, sex, fitness level, genetic makeup, severity of symptoms, other health conditions, preference or tolerance for one treatment versus another—all of these factors must be considered during evaluation and treatment planning. With our multidisciplinary approach, each patient’s care is tightly coordinated by one of the surgical specialists. The specialist is involved from the first visit through diagnosis, treatment, and recovery, ensuring accurate diagnosis and optimal, tailored treatment. If surgery is determined to be the best option for achieving these goals, the specialist also performs all steps in the surgical procedure.
Do it well. Quality matters to us. We know that effective treatment of spine conditions requires a thorough understanding of the causes and most appropriate treatments, experience in customizing treatment to each person’s need, and technical skill in a procedure or operating room. We are committed to excellence in all aspects of spine care. This is our promise and what we deliver every day.
Evaluation and Diagnosis
Optimal treatment relies on accurate diagnosis.
