Residents of the Lankenau Osteopathic Family Medicine Program fulfill
the majority of their ambulatory care training at MLHC City Line Family
Medicine under the direction of Program Director Richard M. Watson, DO,
Associate Program Director Tamara Fedec, DO, and faculty member Ali
Kadkhoda, DO. Typically two attending physicians dedicate time to teach
residents by precept and example during their ambulatory care sessions.
The enhanced one-to-one direct resident observation provides ample
opportunity for faculty to evaluate residents during a variety of acute,
urgent and chronic medical conditions and provide immediate feedback.
Great effort is made to provide continuity of care within the ambulatory
setting. This effort also extends to the inpatient care of MLHC City
Line Family Medicine patients when admitted to the Lankenau Medical
MLHC City Line Family Medicine specializes in the delivery of
comprehensive care to patients of age 14 and older, focusing on
prevention and early recognition of disease. Patients requiring
specialist consultation can conveniently seek treatment from the
numerous onsite specialists MLHC City Line Family Medicine has partnered
with. The development of a multi-specialty center provides accessible,
comprehensive, coordinated and continuing patient care. With on-site
services including cardiology, dermatology, gastroenterology and
rheumatology, many patients’ medical needs can be treated and managed at
our facility. Residents will have the opportunity to have direct
discussions with any on-site specialists seeing patients at that time.
At MLHC City Line Family Medicine, residents will have direct and remote
electronic access to the records of all patients on their panel through
our fully implemented EMR.
Patients requiring OMM are also scheduled during resident ambulatory
sessions. Supervision of the residents on the delivery of OMM is
provided by the CLFM attending physicians and Andrew Kirschner, DO, a
practicing OMM specialist. Our mission is to provide the residents an
environment that amplifies the learning experience by being attentive to
your educational needs while satisfying your AOA ambulatory care
Second and third year residents will expand their ambulatory training by
spending a portion of their week at a federally qualified health center
in Philadelphia. The clinic is managed by Spectrum Health Services, Inc.
(SHS), a nonprofit community health agency whose mission is to provide
comprehensive primary care health services, health education and social
services to low income Philadelphians.
