| Description: | Safe Sitter is an intensive two-day training program for boys and girls ages 11 through 13. The program was founded in 1980 by Indianapolis pediatrician, Dr. Patricia Keener. The purpose of Safe Sitter is to increase the ability of adolescents to safely care for younger children in a nurturing way as well as to prevent avoidable and unintentional injuries while babysitting. Safe Sitter is a competency-based, highly interactive curriculum researched and developed by Dr. Keener. First aid information is based on recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Rescue skills information is based on the guidelines of the American Heart Association. Prior to the class, please print and complete these two forms: Parental Consent Form and Student Contract.
