Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital Kickoff Event at Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital Marks Beginning Of Brain Injury Unit Expansion and Renovation Project (MALVERN, PA; April 2006) -- About 125 friends of Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital gathered March 22, 2006 to celebrate the beginning of construction to expand and renovate the hospital's Brain Injury Unit. The $2.9-million project, which is expected to be completed early next year, is taking place on the second floor in the Maple and Dogwood Units. A $1-million fundraising campaign has already reached $625,000. Gathering to plant a dogwood tree in the hospital's courtyard to commemorate the project are (from left) Rosadele Plumari, Director of Admissions and Case Management; Jack Lynch, Main Line Health President and CEO; Larry Wexler, a former patient and a Campaign Committee member; and Campaign Co-Chairmen David N. Horwich, M.D., Chief of Internal Medicine, and David F. Long, M.D., Medical Director of the Brain Injury Program. On the right side of the tree (from left) are Dr. Harold Yaffe, Campaign Committee and Foundation Board member; his daughter Lisa, a former patient; and his wife, Linda; Donna Phillips, BMRH President; and C. Lee Hervey; his daughter Beth Anne, a Campaign Committee member; his wife Marjorie; and (seated) his daughter, Laura Lee, a former patient. Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital -- located in the Philadelphia suburb of Malvern, PA -- is a 151-bed hospital offering acute inpatient care, outpatient programs and day treatment programs for adults and adolescents with brain injuries, stroke, spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, chronic pain and orthopedic injuries.
