Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital's Vestibular Rehabilitation Program is a therapeutic program that manages the effects of dizziness and imbalance. The vestibular system can be affected by inner
ear disorders, stroke, head injury or other neurologic problems. Our specially trained and experienced therapists teach patients
to manage the effects of dizziness and return to an independent lifestyle. Treatment may include physical and/or occupational
therapy and focuses on sensorimotor retraining, visual exercises, home exercises and patient/family education.
Treatment Treatment plans for the Vestibular Rehabilitation program are developed to provide the tools necessary for symptom management.
Management of the problem enables patients to return to a functional lifestyle and to eventually be able to manage the disorder
on their own. The program goals include the ability to return to work, household responsibilities and participation in various
social and recreational activities.
At admission to the program 49% of clients said that their problem interfered with their job or household responsibilities.
By discharge, only 14% of clients said that their problem still interfered. 100% of clients were satisfied with the education
they received regarding their condition and managing /preventing future problems.

and a loss of function as a result. Patients may be self-referred or referred by a physician or case manager. To make a referral
