With our individualized treatment programs, developed by physicians and staff who have extensive experience in the treatment of catastrophic injuries and illnesses, Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital provides the best rehabilitation that medicine has to offer. We also have access to the latest medications and technologies available. As a result, our patient outcomes have consistently been among the highest in the country. Our patients improve 17 percent more per week and are 7 percent more independent when discharged than patients at other rehabilitation institutions in the region.

In survey after survey, more than 95 percent of our inpatients indicate they would recommend Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital to someone else - the highest compliment any healthcare organization can receive.

Meeting Tomorrow's Challenges
We remain committed to meeting the challenges of the future. Over the past five years, the hospital has experienced a 50 percent increase in the number of patients admitted following brain injury, spurring us to undertake a major expansion and renovation of our Brain Injury Unit. We also see more than 400 stroke patients a year on an inpatient basis, and are prepared to see more as the population ages, given that the risk of stroke doubles with each decade past age 55. Similar growth is occurring in the treatment of spinal cord injuries, amputations, multiple trauma and other orthopedic and neurological conditions.

Of course, we could not hope to meet these challenges without the dedication of dozens of volunteers who provided 14, 836 hours of service this past year, and the financial support of so many benefactors. Last year alone, we received 1,600 gifts from the community and our own staff totaling more than $500,000, and are well along in a $1-million fundraising campaign for the expanded Brain Injury Unit.
