Bryn Mawr Hospital New Emergency Department Entrance Opens at Bryn Mawr Hospital -- 11/27/07 New Entrance Marks First of Three-Phase $20 Million Expansion Project
"Our community depends on us to be there for them when unexpected accidents or illnesses happen; 24 hours a day, seven days a week," explained Liz Younkins, Director, Business Development and Nursing Operations for Bryn Mawr Hospital. "Completion of this first phase of the Emergency Department expansion will make it easier for our patients and their families to access our services and provide them with adequate parking." The new entrance features a large, sheltered drop-off area for people who arrive in private vehicles. Inside, patients will find a bright, comfortable and spacious reception area with separate sections for adult and pediatric patients, and a modern triage unit. Scheduled for completion in the fall of 2008, the ED will provide 36 larger and private family-friendly exam rooms, and a comprehensive radiology suite with advanced imaging technology. The expansion project, funded primarily through community support, will nearly double the size of the ED and provide more efficient and effective care to an estimated 50,000 patients a year.
