Bryn Mawr Hospital Breaks Ground for New Emergency Department

  Path: Bryn Mawr Hospital <

(BRYN MAWR, PA; August, 2007) -- Bryn Mawr Hospital officially celebrated a ceremonial groundbreaking for the new Emergency Department (ED) with their special guests from the Shipley School on May 16, 2007. The event was held offsite at the nearby Gregg Conference Center on The American College campus since construction has already begun on the hospital grounds.

At approximately 27,900 square feet and a cost of $20 million, the ED will nearly double in size when it opens in the Fall of 2008. The new facility will employ the latest technology and equipment, including an electronic patient charting and tracking system to reduce paperwork and improve communication between staff. It will also feature an acute care center for treating minor injuries, an emergent zone for life-threatening illnesses or injuries, a pediatric treatment area, and diagnostic imaging.
