The Lankenau Hospital Breast Care Center Meet Our Medical Director
Jennifer Lane Sabol, M.D. serves as medical director of the Lankenau Hospital Breast Care Center, offering women a comprehensive and integrative approach to breast health. The Center comprises dedicated specialists in breast imaging, breast surgery, and medical and radiation oncology as well as genetics, nursing, nutrition and social work. Women are guided through this multidisciplinary program by a nurse coordinator, ensuring individualized attention and care in a supportive environment. Dr. Sabol's training includes an undergraduate degree with honors from Franklin and Marshall College followed by a degree in medicine from Jefferson Medical College. She then completed her surgical training at Baystate Medical Center in Massachusetts and went on to become the Seeger Fellow in Surgical Oncology of the Breast at Baylor University Medical Center. Dr. Sabol also holds an appointment at Jefferson Medical College as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery. While board-certified in general surgery, her practice is currently limited to the treatment of diseases of the breast. Among her many interests, Dr. Sabol spearheads several research initiatives to advance the care for women with breast cancer. She serves as co-investigator on several active research protocols including Phase II and Phase III studies involving improved methods of breast cancer detection and treatment and was recently the Principal Investigator on a study using rapid RNA extraction to more quickly identify the presence of occult metastases in axillary lymph nodes. A noted lecturer and distinguished author, Dr. Sabol has published numerous papers on breast disease in scientific journals including the Annals of Surgical Oncology, New England Journal of Medicine, the Breast Journal and Gerontology. She has spoken at conferences to both clinical and consumer audiences on the medical and lifestyle issues that affect women with breast cancer. Dr. Sabol is a member of several professional organizations including the American College of Surgeons, American College of Surgeons Oncology Group, American Society of Breast Disease, and Pennsylvania Society of Hematology and Oncology. She was awarded the Resident Teaching Award at Tufts University Medical School and was a member of the Hobart Amory Mare Medical Honor Society at Jefferson Medical College. Dr. Sabol and her family reside in Voorhees, NJ. ###
